It’s been a few weeks since our last Songs of the Week so let’s not delay any longer!
Grunt’s Pick: Shadow and Soul by RED
I recently picked up RED’s newest album, Of Beauty and Rage and it combines more of the orchestral work that they have done in the past. As you already know, I love when string instruments and rock/metal intersect and Shadow and Soul does just that. The song sounds great to me, with a few changes in the melody and tempo near the end of the song. It’s so far my favorite song off the album.
Frantic’s Pick: Setting the Skies Ablaze by Psycroptic
I won’t lie, it took a while to pick this song. I’ve had a lot of new songs find me these past few weeks so it was tough. But alas, Setting the Skies Ablaze won for the week. I’m not a big Death Metal listener, but these guys are rifftastic (the art of being good at writing riffs, patent pending). It makes me want to pick my guitar back up and just wail, something a song hasn’t done to me in a long time.
